After Care

Looking after your skin post-treatment is an essential step to ensure you enjoy the maximum benefits of your therapy. These tips will help you keep that salon skin glow long after your visit.
Ultraceuticals Advanced Skin Treatments
Before your treatment
- Prior to any Ultraceuticals Advanced Skin treatments, we will recommend an at-home skincare program suited for your skin type & concerns.
- Ultra Daily SPF Protection should also be used.
- For optimal results, a series of facial treatments will be recommended, with a minimum of two weeks in between.
- Stop using all retinol products 48 hours prior to treatment.
- We recommend waiting between 3 -14 days following any non-cosmetic surgical procedures, before performing a facial treatment
- Avoid waxing the treatment area for two weeks prior to treatment.
During your treatment
- A slight tingling, itching, redness or heat may be experienced. This is due to the active ingredients within the products.
After your treatment
- You may experience mild discomfort, redness and/or skin flaking after an Ultraceuticals Advanced Skin treatment.
- It is not necessary to see visible flaking or peeling for the treatment to have worked.
- Make-up (preferably mineral) may be worn immediately after your treatment.
- If you have any concerns following your treatment, please contact us.
- You must stop using any corrective products in your homecare for the next 5-7 days. This includes products containing AHAs, BHA, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and Retinol (Vitamin A).
- Ultra Daily SPF Protection must be used daily.
- Avoid vigorous exercise or excessive heat including saunas, steam baths, hot showers or chlorinated pools for 48 hours following your treatment.
- Avoid waxing, IPL or laser treatments for two weeks following your treatment.
- Rare side effects can occur whenever a skin treatment is performed. Consult our team for advice & always give correct information regarding skincare products & medications you are using.
- Do not pick at peeling or flaking skin.
- Do not prematurely expose skin to the sun.
Dermalogica Advanced Peels
After your treatment
- After treatment you may experience some skin tightening, which may last for several days.
- Light flaking may begin within 1-3 days & will usually subside within 7-10 days; however, it is impossible to predict this shedding process.
- Ensure you apply sunscreen daily.
- Avoid direct sun for 2-3 weeks.
- Do not wax or use any type of exfoliating products for 72 hours, or until your skin shows no signs of sensitivity.
- Do not pick or peel at scabs, blisters or loose skin, as scarring may occur.
- Avoid excessive heat sources, including dry saunas & steam rooms.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or any activity that could lead to increased blood circulation to the face.
Luminfusion
Before your treatment
- Discontinue auto-immune therapies or retinoid (Retin-A) and/or any form of active skin care products three days prior to treatment.
- Any medications that would affect the characteristics of the skin should be stopped for two months prior to treatment.
- Avoid alcohol & caffeine 1-2 days prior to treatment.
- Avoid any non-cosmetic surgical procedures at least 14 days before treatment.
- Avoid any waxing or hair removal for at least five days before treatment.
- Avoid excessive tanning at least 14 days before your treatment.
During your treatment
- You may experience inflammation, itching & burning.
After your treatment
- No make-up for the first 24 hours after your treatment
- No sweaty exercise, sauna, steam, swimming, or direct sun exposure for 3-5 days after your treatment.
- Cleanse with gentle cleanser and tepid water, apply moisturiser & use SPF 30+ daily.
- Avoid using active skin care products at least 3-5 days’ post-treatment, per your skin therapist’s instructions.
- You may experience redness between 1-3 days after your treatment - use serums & recommended skin care products per your skin therapist’s directions.
